I’m very pleased to announce Taurus season has arrived!

During the month of May, you’re invited to engage in all sensory pleasures around us. If life hasn’t been fun lately,  it’s time to take a chill pill and make it fun!

Out of the three earth signs, they are my favorite. Ruled by the planet Venus, these individuals are as charming as they are discerning. Diplomatic in their interactions (they cannot stand poor manners), they leave a lasting impact with their dry wit and subtly thoughtful gestures. Like Virgos and Capricorns, they have a need for things to be a certain way, but they’re better at hiding it. It never surprises me when I see these folks running their own businesses because they know exactly what and how their environment needs to be and what other people want to experience by stepping into their space or using their product. If you’re throwing an event or in the process of planning one, (particularly with a specific aesthetic, charcuterie, etc) get extra creative, because Taurus adores a thoughtful touch, a savory first bite, and a perfectly arranged floral display

Taurus energy is living proof that slow and steady can win the race while enjoying your life. This directly clashes with corporate ecosystems that demand “big impact” or a financial win to be considered useful. With LinkedIn suits glorifying hustle culture and all email in your inbox marked “TIME SENSITIVE” it feels impossible to consider taking a break. But, when we slow down, we begin to understand how to work smarter not harder and what actually deserves our attention at work over a walk in the garden. While Aries' placements hit the ground running (sometimes before considering all the options), Taurus pauses to assess, inspect, and get a feel for things. Having a Taurus on your team will ensure the focus is on quality over quantity. They will pay attention to details and aesthetics others overlook which can take them far when managing high stakes relationships. They need to be careful not to take on everyone else's loads just because they’re better at it and complain less. Execs will appreciate their calm demeanor and ability to parse through the chatter to get to the point of the issue succinctly and matter of factly.

But heaven help you if you mess one too many times with their way of doing things or challenge their intellect.  Their anger’s a slow burn, and they’re the most stubborn people you’ll ever come across. They'll hide this until you do something outrageous like rush them before they’re ready to make a decision or not say “thank you” and help clean up after they hosted the dinner party. A classic example is Prince Harry of Wales. His Taurus moon is fine with chill vibes and a good time until you attack the people and environments that matter most to him. When the system he’d operated in his entire life quit making sense, he dipped! Mess with the bull (their astro symbol), and they’ll air out your skeletons as they leave their roles behind. Tread thoughtfully.

While their stubbornness and integrity to their ideals can be an asset, they should be careful not to restrict their opportunities for experimentation and growth. They don’t like risk and aren’t interested in rubbing elbows with the C-Suite at happy hour even if it will help them advance their bottleneck because they want to be in bed by 9pm. If something doesn’t make sense off the bat, they balk at change. If you notice your organization resisting newer environments or people dynamics during this month, observe the why and the history behind it before you initiate the pivot. If you can start the conversation with how things have the potential to feel and look over time, you’re less likely to get shut down. A beautifully curated slide deck (visuals over too many words) never hurts with a Taurus leader.

Lacking a vision? Refresh your view. What are you looking at daily? What aren’t you? Have you truly exhausted all options or just the ones everyone says to do? Are you too stubborn to admit defeat or is now the time to dig in your heels? How does the body language and visual cues from your Execs (and you) come into play in meetings and conversations? Does employing the new trendy feature into everything actually evolve your business or did it just jam up your systems because it was deployed for the sake of innovation before every angle was considered?

Take advantage of the moment to slow down and fully experience your daily routines, wellness, and meals. If something feels off, it is off plain and simple. Don’t fear acknowledging that, just know the difference between an off day where you should go to bed early versus sending in your resignation because you’ve been operating in burnout mode with no support or compensation in sight for too long. Both can be true, but get clear on which needs immediate action versus taking time to yourself to deescalate your nervous system.

Taurus Strategic Alignments:

  • You’re a slightly complicated houseplant. Water, food, rest, sunlight, and time to grow are required.

  • Ask your Execs where they’d like to slow down and see how you can bring that to life.

  • Make a Moodboard! Visual art will provide extra inspiration right now. This could be a great 1:1 or team building activity.

  • Do not respond quickly to every Slack/Email.

  • Your best work comes when you make room to breathe so give yourself some.

  • Prioritize meals! Order you and your Exec your favorite treats just cuz.

  • If you have an office refresh stipend this is a good time to use it!

  • The more inviting something is, the engagement you want will appear

  • When sending announcements and updates, make it eye-catching

  • Schedule a catch up call with a mentor or someone in your network you enjoy

  • Encourage your team to take meetings outdoors.

I leave you with the words of wisdom from my favorite Taurus (she is in my head idc idc) Donna from Parks and Rec:

I hope this month gives you extra naps, whimsical days, and at least one affogato for breakfast.
